As a member of the Canadian Conference of MB Churches, we strive to cultivate a community of healthy disciple-making churches and ministries, through active participation in our national strategic plan and according to the theological vision of our Canadian MB Confession of Faith. As we continue to seek God’s direction in being and proclaiming the good news of Jesus across our province and beyond, we are looking for a devoted follower of Jesus to fulfill the full time role of Executive Director of the Ontario Conference of MB Churches.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Ontario Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide overall leadership to the Ontario Conference of MB Churches (ONMB) and will oversee all areas of conference ministry and operations. The Executive Director will also represent ONMB to the Canadian Conference of MB Churches (CCMBC) through the National Ministry Team and will be responsible to lead ONMB in a strong provincial/national alignment under the CCMBC Collaborative Unified Strategic Plan (CUSP).
General Role and Responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy:
Develop a community of healthy disciple making churches with holistic gospel presence by articulating and driving the vision/mission and strategy of ONMB.
Network Development:
Build community among ONMB churches and partners through relational connections, spiritual support, and shared participation in our mission/vision. Lead & develop ONMB’s role as an active participant in the CCMBC CUSP.
Resource Oversight:
Oversee staff and resource ministry to build organisational health in our conference and churches by stewarding people, resources, and finances for maximum impact.
Initial Goals & Priorities:
- Reviewing Mission/Vision & Strategic Plan: Work together with the Board to review and update the ONMB mission/vision and develop a new strategic plan.
- Leading CUSP Implementation: Prioritize the ongoing implementation of the CUSP within Ontario, including building CUSP awareness and engagement among our churches.
- Fundraising: Engage people and churches in fundraising, growing support and engagement in our ONMB mission/vision.
- Forward Thinking Leadership: Initiate strategic thinking towards how ONMB will need to shift and adapt in our ministry context, while remaining committed to our Confession of Faith.
- Leading a Diverse Community: Develop relationships and practical ways to engage with the breadth and diversity of people who make up our ONMB churches and the province in which we are planted.
Qualifications:
Specifically, we are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications:
- A strong and continually growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, someone who humbly continues to pursue the character of Jesus.
- A passion for the people and mission/vision of ONMB.
- A personal commitment to and theological vision for the Canadian MB Confession of Faith.
- Proven experience in casting vision, leading leaders, and mobilising people and resources accordingly.
- Highly relational, team-oriented, results-focused servant leader with a commitment to and skills that fit a collaborative leadership model.
- A Bible college and/or Seminary degree in a relevant discipline
- College or University education and/or workplace experience focused on executive leadership and operational execution, long term strategic planning & implementation.
- 10 + years in church, para-church or other ministry, preferably at least a portion of this in a senior leadership role
- Credentialed leader with ONMB/CCMBC or willing to complete credentialing as a part of the hiring process.
- A strong understanding and appreciation for Board governance, policy, and procedures that will support the mission of ONMB.
- Strong networking, interpersonal relationship, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage with a wide diversity of people and cultures.
- Self-awareness and the desire for self-improvement, pursuing one’s own leadership development. A recognition of personal strengths and limitations as a leader and how to incorporate this into team leadership.
- A commitment to prayerfully discern how the ONMB of the future needs to adapt and shift its culture in the era before us, inclined toward thinking/dreaming/strategizing into new directions, in alignment with our Confession and governing documents.
- Able to balance the provincial and national responsibilities required by the role.
- Proven track record in any of the following: leadership by operational execution of vision and mission, skilled communication, equipping leaders and developing teams, planning, goal setting and evaluation of ministries, maximizing and developing resources (fundraising), recruiting and/or developing strategic partnerships.
Other Information:
The Ontario Conference of MB Churches offers a compensation package commensurate with the position and experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits plan including RRSP, extended health and dental.
