In News, News From Our Partners

Turning to Gold.

Thirty days ago our dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour.  Yesterday, after a brief and difficult battle with cancer our dad was freed from his pain and struggle.  Though we all had the privilege of being at his side as he passed from this life to the next, we are finding it hard to believe.  However, what we do believe is that he is in the best place, at perfect peace, full of joy, and probably creating something in the glory of his Lord as he loved to do.  As Avery prayed the other night, “Thank you God that Opa has a new body.”

My dad said something interesting to me this summer:  “People have said that whatever I touch turns to gold, but the truth is, I know that God blessed me so that I can bless others.”  It’s true that he has found favour in the business community and beyond, but the motivation has always been to honour God, support the family and to see many people blessed. Dad has impacted us deeply in many ways, from his intense love for his family, to his generous and compassionate heart for those in need.  These are things we will never forget.

Thank you so much to the many of you who have expressed your concern and condolences, who have prayed and shared Scripture, who have loved us. Though we have not been able to respond you all, we love you and are thankful for you.

Love Doug and Deanna
Maddy, Keza and Avery
