March Update

Greetings Friends,

What a week it was… February 21-25, 2017. Three unique events, back to back building momentum among our Ontario Conference of Churches. What a thrill to see God intervening and guiding those days. In gratitude for his work, here is a snap shot:

Pastors Credentialing Orientation – Ontario

Feb. 21-23 was the first Pastor Credentialing Orientation event held in ON in 5 years. It pulled together 45 participants from every corner of ON as well as two guests from Alberta. With the presenters from our Seminary and other guests from across Canada we were often a group of 60+ leaders. To make things more engaging we visited 6 different church/ministries in Niagara. The focus was to provide our new and emerging pastors with a deeper appreciation of the historical and theological perspective of our MB tribe. Based on early reviews it appears we hit the bulls eye. But beyond the information or DNA transfer, it was thrilling to see new relationships and potential collaborative partnerships established.

Pastors & Leaders Day – with Bruxy Cavey

Feb. 24 – Pastor/Leaders day with Bruxy Cavey, was entitled “Unity – Third Way Thinking”. It provided a safe but engaging context for our leaders (120+) to wrestle with the many challenges associated with ministry to the LGBTQ community. Bruxy’s unarming presence and deep biblical thinking set the context for healthy interaction. Many questions remain, but it was good to witness our leaders engage this discussion in a life-giving and positive spirit.

 OCMBC Convention 2017

Feb. 24,25 was our 86th Annual Convention. Incredibly, many of the same individuals took in all three events (we should have given out awards for perseverance). But, the numbers swelled as delegates from 24 of our 29 churches across the province joined together around the theme: “United at the Cross”. New Hope Church Niagara were fantastic hosts once again, as nearly 190 people joined for the Friday evening celebration. Finally, and it felt like we could have gone longer, we concluded the week with a full Saturday. This included a final challenge by Mark Wessner (MB Seminary President), brief but necessary business sessions, and numerous breakouts. The key note messages from Friday and Saturday will also be on our website soon.

Leaders Collective: with Robyn Serez

Space does not allow for the many thanks to all who made this week so memorable. I’m so grateful for my tiny but dynamic team, for a fully supportive Board, and for the many leaders both in Ontario and beyond who poured so much energy into these days. We look forward to witnessing the fruit of those efforts in the days and years to come.

Please Pray!
